Report: Muslim Warlords Out of Control in African Country, ‘Genocide’ Feared

Posted on | November 22, 2013 | 28 Comments

This situation made headlines last December. then disappeared from the front pages. Now it’s gone from bad to much, much worse:

France said on Thursday that Central African Republic was “on the verge of genocide” and it expected the United Nations to give Paris and the African Union permission to intervene.
Central African Republic, a landlocked nation of 4.6 million people, has descended into violence and chaos since Seleka rebels, many of them from neighbouring Chad and Sudan, ousted President Francois Bozize in March.
The U.S. State Department estimates that nearly 400,000 people have been displaced and 68,000 have fled to neighbouring countries since Seleka leader and interim president Michel Djotodia has lost control of his loose coalition of warlords.
The violence has increasingly pitted Seleka’s mainly Muslim fighters against Christian militias. Christians make up half the population and Muslims 15 percent, the CIA World Factbook says.
“The country is on the verge of genocide,” French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius told French television station France 2. “France, CAR’s neighbours and the international community are worried. The United Nations will give permission to African forces, the African Union and France to intervene.”
While U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said on Monday he may be prepared to deploy U.N. peacekeepers, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry has made it plain Washington favours an African peacekeeping force.

What we seem to be looking at is a potential Somalia, the “failed state” nightmare scenario of savage anarchy. Worse than Detroit, even.

That’s what I’m saying: In America, we look at Detroit and think, “That’s rock bottom.”

Except, no it’s not. The worst of Detroit would be like heaven to people in a place like CAR.

We don’t know how good we’ve got it. And we need to try to avoid losing what we’ve got, because what happens if we lose freedom here?

Muslim warlords!? Wait, what? But those radical Lutherans, aren’t they the real threat?

    Talk about harshing the narrative.

Such a magnificent place and the cradle of humanity! It’s a lost cause though, and that’s a shame…

Kim du Toit, if you remember the man and his blog, once said walling off Africa would be an improvement to the world. Sadly, it is far too cynical to be practical.

Perhaps if the rebels killed a few people with poison gas instead of bullets and bombs . . . ?

Let’s face facts: we don’t really care that a bunch of people are being killed, unless they are being killed the wrong way. Our Nobel Peace Prize winning President was extremely upset, and was going to Do Something, when the government forces used chemical weapons to kill 1,429 people, but, some 5,000 people were killed just in September, and Syria news makes page A-14 of The New York Times, if it gets mentioned at all.

Which side is set to be slaughtered? If it is the muslims, and they are invaders, then… I really can’t care. If it is the majority, and Christians, and in their own country, then I might have some interest in allowing outside intervention, but preferably local as is being suggested.

U.N. forces shouldn’t be allowed to go in anywhere. They have at least as bad of a reputation as some rebel forces. Pilfering, murder, even rape and pedophilia… not a force to be trusted.

Now that I’ve had my tongue removed from cheek….

Detroit is about half a step above Port au Prince and the only thing keeping there is that it’s surrounded by a first world country. There is nothing that makes us exceptional when it comes to such things. When a country forgets God and turns to depravity, that country will sink, and the floor is a lot lower than many people think. It’s even lower that what you see in much of Africa.

what is needed is jobs and agricultural assistance

The green line project should be extended using local labor, peace corps, and world wide funding

    cheaper than war
